The Waldorf 100 Youth Conference is the major student focused event in Australia to celebrate 100 years since the first Waldorf/Steiner school opened in Stuttgart, Germany in 1919. Samford Valley Steiner School are hosting this inspiring event on 3rd-7th September.

Year 10-12 students from Steiner schools across Australia and New Zealand are meeting, collaborating and considering purposeful action on major issues facing the world today, including: racism, indigenous perspectives, diversity and inclusion, Australian responses to environment and sustainability issues, ethical business, the role of arts in society, education and imagining the future. They are supported by exceptional international speakers and workshop facilitators.

As a highlight of the conference, there will be a performance of an inspirational musical work called ‘100 Years’ commissioned for the Waldorf 100 celebrations. This will be lived streamed to participating schools across Australia.

Virginia Moller CEO of Steiner Education Australia sincerely thanks Samford Steiner School for shining a light on behalf of all Steiner schools on how powerful Steiner education is in its conscious approach to developing young people for the future.

‘Now, more than ever before, Steiner education is recognised as a highly valued approach to develop flexible and agile thinking and an ability to collaborate and thrive in a 21st Century world. Gonski 2.0 highlighted the need for a contemporary education to emphasise critical and creative thinking, social skills and problem solving – delivering a deep sense of purpose, connectivity and agency to enact change. These are the hallmarks of a Steiner education.’

‘The Australian Youth Conference is a wonderful showcase of Steiner education in action and of the theme of Waldorf 100 itself Learn to Change the World.’
